Prambanan Temple is a cool place to visit because it offers visitors a glimpse into Indonesia’s incredible history.  The great thing about the temple is the free student tour guides who offer English tours to visitors.  If you get a guide the opportunity to learn about the cultural and historical nuances is fantastic.

If you’re a student then visiting Prambanan Temple is well worth the visit, but foreigners (at full price) have to pay three times more.  Walking around the main temple which has been reconstructed since an earth quake destroyed it was interesting since students offer free tours of the complex, but in all honesty I thought it was a little expensive for what you get to see.

Yet, I was able to capture this incredible image and hanging out on the grassy knoll with a couple friends was great.  Definitely bring your camera for a visit to Yogyakarta’s most famous temple and enjoy a lazy afternoon.  Don’t forget to try the free water and coffee when you visit the foreigner ticket office!
