Independence day celebration Nyameyekrom, Ghana

Ghana’s Future:

As the first African nation to gain independence, Ghana’s independence day is truly something to celebrate.

While visiting Nyameyekrom, in the Western Region of Ghana, I was able to participate in the independence day celebration.  These students had been practicing marching all week, and showcased their skills for the community to the sounds of cheers and the national anthem.

I was lucky enough to be here with my fellow Me to We facilitators.  We got to meet the entire community, and learn how important education is to Nyameryekrom, an initiative that our Me to We volunteer groups learn first hand.

The festivities lasted all day and I knew after that I had the best travel job in the world!
