Ghanaian sunrise:

Waking up for the magic hour (30 min before and after sunrise) offers photographers the best light.  I captured this image of the ancient deity of Asemkow during my morning walk along the beach.  It’s easy to see why this rock formation was once the protector of Asemkow.

Asemkow is a small fishing community on the West Coast of Ghana with a small population whose primary source of food and income is derived from the oceans bounty.

Today Ghana is predominantly Christian and in a community of 2000 people you’ll find Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist and several other Christian parishes.
