Mini Gobi sand dunes:

There are few places in the world where the sheer size and beauty of the natural surrounding change your perspectives on how we live and our place in the world.  Standing on top of a sand dune in Mongolia’s Mini Gobi desert I stood in awe.  This place was no “mini” desert.  In fact, standing on this sand dune I felt like one of the grains of sand beneath me as I looked out towards the mountains on the horizon and the dunes seemed to go on forever.

As I stood there trying to take a picture in hopes of remembering the experience, my friend Stevo (the shameless traveler) captured this image with my camera.  Afterwards, we headed off to meet our nomadic host family were we’d be staying for the night.   It was there we discovered and experienced first hand the ancient shamanistic ritual of a Mongolian Shaman.
