Where to stay in Batu Karas, Indonesia

Bonsai Bungalows Batu Karas, Indonesia

Finding a place to stay in Batu Karas is easy as I describe several options available to visitors.

Still developing Batukaras offers a few choice accommodations to fit every traveler’s budget. From the luxury Java hotel to the cheaper homestay options there is something for everyone. Most travelers here choose to stay close to the main beach where most of the restaurants and homestays are located. During the high season it’s best to call ahead as most homestays only have a few rooms available.

While in Batukaras I found a nice room at Bonsai Homstay. I loved this place. The location is across the street from the shops and restaurants so it’s quiet, but still has all the conveniences of restaurants and the beach a stones throw away. The rooms were really clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. If you need a scooter to rent or a surfboard the manager will help you find exactly what you need so you don’t have to go anywhere else. For breakfast they offered a compliment toasted jam sandwich and instant coffee. If you ask, they will make you an egg sandwich and top it off with a tomato if you like. Being a quiet, clean, reasonably priced homestay makes the Bonsai a great place to stay for anyone looking to lay back in Batukaras.

Being a small fishing village finding a place to stay in Batukaras is easy. To get the best bang for your buck great places to stay are the BK Homestay, Wooden House and Bonsai homestays. Off season prices are around 150,000 rupiah per night for a double room with ensuite bathroom and breakfast. High season prices are around 250,000 rupiah per night. There are only two rooms at BK Homestay, the breakfast and beachfront being its selling points. Next door you’ll find Wooden House which offers similar accommodation with few more rooms to choose from. At Bonsai the chill atmosphere, quiet courtyard, beautiful rooms, and simple breakfast keep travelers coming back. All these homestays are located only a few meters from the beach offering guests great accommodation in the perfect location.
